About the project

What is Doclet?

Doclet is a hosting platform for small internal apps. You run one command, your app gets a live URL, and you share it with people by email, the same way you share a Google Doc. Doclet handles sign-in, access control and hosting, so the app itself never needs a login page.

"Ship the tool, share it like a doc."

The problem it solves

Teams build lots of small tools: invoice trackers, dashboards, admin panels, scripts with a web front end. Getting one in front of coworkers usually means setting up hosting, building authentication, and managing who can see it. Doclet removes all of that, so a tool goes from a folder on your laptop to something the whole company can open in seconds.

How it works

  • One command to a live URL: run doclet deploy in a folder. A Node server or a static site gets its own address (for example invoice-tracker.acme.doclet.site) and sleeps when nobody is using it.
  • Share like a doc: doclet share maya@acme.co gives someone access. Apps can be restricted to chosen people, open to the whole workspace, or public to anyone with the link.
  • Know who's visiting: Doclet signs people in before a request reaches your app, and every request carries the visitor's email in an x-doclet-user-email header, so the app can trust who is asking.

Key features

  • Sign-in: visitors sign in with their email; your app never writes a login page.
  • Access control: removing someone ends their access immediately.
  • Free viewers: only the people who build and deploy are paid members. Everyone you share with is free, so the whole company can use a tool without costing a seat.
  • Persistent data: each app gets a volume, so SQLite files and uploads survive restarts and deploys.
  • Logs and rollbacks: read logs, roll back to an earlier version, or pause an app from the CLI or the dashboard.
  • One dashboard: see every app in the workspace, its status and traffic, and which teammate built it.

Plans

  • Free: up to 3 members, 5 apps, 100K requests and 5 GB bandwidth a month.
  • Pro ($10 per member / month): up to 50 members, unlimited apps, public links.
  • Team ($15 per member / month): higher request and bandwidth limits per member.
  • Enterprise: custom pricing for 50+ members.

Status

Doclet is in early access. New accounts go on a waitlist for approval. Install the CLI with npm install -g doclet-cli.
